What We've Been Up To

This shirt cracks me up but not because Cal clearly
has no idea what this is.  It's because when he asks
for a drink or a bite of what I'm eating, he tries to say "some"
but it comes out sounding like "nom" (despite being able to make s sounds
in other words).  And, of course, he repeats himself, so he
ends up saying "Nom, nom, nom!"

What should we build next, Grams?

Uncle Josh got me this cool Hot Wheels toy
that goes right in the tub.  I am loving it so far.

Cal got lots of new books for Christmas.  One of his favorites is  one
called I'm Your Bus.  If you know Cal, you know he has a bit of
an obsession with busses.  But, he loved all the books he was given
and we've been reading them over and over ever since.

Yesterday, we went to the Children's Museum.  Grams and Papaw
bought us a membership for Christmas.  It was pretty crowded since
schools are on break right now but we had a great time anyway.  The first thing
we checked out was the dinosaurs.  Cal made lots or roaring noises, of course.

Then, we went to the train area.  He spotted this
Thomas set right away and started playing.

Sharing - sort of!

Then, we got on the life-size train and took a trip.

Next, we watched the electric model trains.  This was a huge hit!

There is one up by the ceiling, too.

Had to stop off and check out the racecar.  Yes,
he really is in there.

And, then, it was on to Playscape.  We got there just in time.
On our way out of this area, we noticed that a line was forming.  Whew!

Sand table was lots of fun.

The water area was fun, too.  Cal was a bit
shall we say overzealous in this area, though.
We had to remind him that others do not
necessarily want to be splashed.  Oops!

And, of course, he noticed that there was yet
another train table.  Daddy helped him to get
"inside" the train set for even more fun.

As the area got more and more crowded,
Cal became more and more of a menace with
the lawn mower.  Actually, now that I think about
it, that's not true.  He weaved in and out of people
quite well.  Those having trouble were the adults
chasing after him.

Uncle Josh thought it was quite funny that Cal
was getting up in the barber chair.  Mommy knew,
though, that it was just for fun.  Lately, I've been
asking him if he wants a haircut and he always
says "no."  And I'm 100% sure he knows what I'm
talking about.  : )

We lasted for a while in line for the carousel and he said he
wanted to ride on a "horsey" but eventually the waiting became
too much.  We'll save that one for a day when crowds are smaller.

All in all, we had a great time at the museum.  We
can't wait to go back again and again.

Who doesn't like to hide under a bunch of pillows to play with cars?

Another milestone for Cal - his first time shaving!  Grandma
Milly got him a Lil' Man shaving set so we thought we'd
try it out.

First tip from Daddy - keep to the beard area, son.

Careful around the lips.

I think his favorite part was rinsing the razor off in the water.

We've had a lot of fun over break!

thanks for all the great pics and comments. It's almost like being there with Cal to see where you have taken him and the fun stuff he is doing. Can't wait to see him again.
