15 Months

Cal turned 15 months old on Thursday. Can you believe it? We had a check-up Friday so we can update you with some stats. He is 22 pounds, 4 ounces with his clothes and shoes on and a little bit of a wet diaper (wet, with rocks in his pockets - you get the idea). He is now 30 1/2 inches tall. He is, according to Dr. B, looking hale and hearty. He had to get one shot but recovered very quickly. Nurse Trish loved seeing him but Cal wasn't as expressive showing the love back in her direction. He isn't that "into" people these days. What is he into at 15 months? Hmmm. . .playing with the kitchen he got for Christmas from Grams and Papaw, saying Daddy and hanging out with Daddy (it's especially cute when he runs to meet him at the door and looks out the window to watch him coming up the walk), saying Mama (sometimes), eating peanut butter and butter sandwiches, pulling the pillows off the couch and jumping on them, pushing cars around the house, and playing the "piano" that he got from Grandma and Grandpa Fox.
He is all the time over here playing around, pushing buttons, etc. Notice that all the drawers have been taken out. This is pretty much a constant problem in Cal's kitchen.
I know this is a weird looking picture but he does this thing when he's walking where he stops and does a sort of dance move that just cracks me up every time.
Do you see the Cocoa Wheats on his face? They are not his breakfast. They are mine. But this little booger kept stealing bites.

Thank goodness we have this guy around the relocate anything we are silly enough to put within his reach.
So, this sweatshirt, I got for $1.75 at Target, plus my discount. I seriously love a good deal. And I thought this colorful shirt was kinda fun.
It goes even better with a big ol' smile.

Every once in a while, I torture my kid and force him to take a picture with me. I am so mean.

Happy Adoption Day!!

Saturday was the one year anniversary of Adoption Day, so we invited the grandparents and Uncle Josh over for a little celebration. Dinner was served - salad, bread, sherry chicken, rice, and green beans. Cal enjoyed a little bit of fruit from the salad, some break and some of the rice with the sherry chicken sauce. Dessert followed - homemade peanut butter cake with peanut butter icing and Cal couldn't get enough of that! Everyone had a great time and Cal was the life of the party, of course. We are so very blessed and look forward to celebrating many more Adoption Days in the future.
First, we get a little fancy. We used Grandma Foye's china. We used the portable high chair so Cal could really have a place at the table. For this year, we stuck with a plastic place setting for the little guy.
On the left are some boxes that arrived for Cal from Uncle Josh. More on that later. On the right is Cal's gift from us. We got him some new food for his kitchen and a book about adoption. The main characters are foxes - perfect, right?
Cal has a little snack to tide himself over until the guests arrive.
He's really looking forward to seeing everyone.
Waiting at the door. . .
Wow, mom and dad, this looks pretty cool.

This part was pretty funny. He kept picking up pieces of food, putting them in his mouth, getting a look on his face that seemed like, "Yep, this one's fake, too" then putting it back in the pile.
Enjoying dinner
The cake!

Seriously, mom, I do NOT understand why we don't have cake after every meal.
Entertaining his guests
This is super, super yummy!

Duplo garbage truck from Uncle Josh. He gave Cal a street sweeper, too. Fun!

Pants on the ground

Sometimes you play so hard, you play right out of your pants.
And, of course, this brings a big smile to your face.

Other times, you just want to get away from it all. And what better place than inside the coffee table?
