Our Boy is Three!

Just two working men
Relaxing after a hard day

Check out my cool pumpkin.  I picked out
the pieces and mom put them on for me.

My first Pinterest creation - I'm rather proud of it.

The morning of the birthday - ready to go!

We let him open his card and a couple of gifts from us before
we headed off for his 3 year pictures.  He really examined
the card.  Cracked me up.

When he opened presents today, he kept saying, "What's in
here?  And "What is this?" (This one was a cool
Batman shirt with a cape and Geo from Umizoomi.)
It's Geo!

Cool stuff from the Hons family - a kite, a
bug catcher, and an awesome truck.

We opened a couple more from Mommy and Daddy when
we got home.  He did pretty well with the pictures - listening
about as well as he usually does.  : )

A new floor puzzle from Mommy and Daddy.

An Umizoomi coloring book

He also opened his new book Calvin Can't Fly.
We found this one at the library a few months
ago and got it because Calvin's name was in the
title.  But, it's actually a great story, too.  As
he usually does with books, he wanted to sit
down and read it right away.

Birthday feast - pizza!

We've been wanting more track pieces for our Thomas trains
so this gift from Grandma and Grandpa Fox was perfect.

Another new floor puzzle - he wanted to put it together right
then.  Actually, that was his reaction to pretty much everything.
He wants to play all the games, read all the books, do all the
puzzles immediately.  I had to encourage him to keep opening.

I just love how Grant is leaning in checking out the card, too.

Cool Umizoomi bath toys from Aunt Sara

This was a car launcher from Uncle Josh.  A big hit!

Hot Wheels?  Awesome!

Grandma and Grandpa Fox also brought a bucket of Halloween
goodies.  It was filled with some really fun stuff.

Cake time!

Of course, he dug right in.

Grant and Cal playing together and having such a good time.
It was fun to see them together.  We need more playdates.

Hanging out in the Hot Wheels storage bin
A big thank you to everyone who was able to make it today - Grams and Papaw, Grandma and Grandpa Fox, Grandma Winnie, Uncle Josh, Uncle Joe, Aunt Jackie, and Grant.  A big thank you to Aunt Dianna, Uncle Ben, and Aunt Sara, too.  We wish you could have been with us today.

Merry Christmas

Calvinisms

I have been keeping a little list of Calvin's favorite sayings of late.  Here are a few gems:

"Fiddlesticks!"  (Andy taught him this one.)
"See you soon, alligators."  (So close.)
"Yes, indeed!"  (He will answer this to the most mundane of questions.  Would you like some milk? Yes, indeed!)
"Goodness, gracious."
"Oh my goodness!"
"Upsadaisy."
"Watch this!" (With predictable results - followed by something borderline dangerous)
"Mateys" (This one will be tacked on to the end of other sentences such as "Let's go, mateys!")
"Pumpkin patches" (He says this whenever he sees a pumpkin.  For some reason we cannot convince him that they are pumpkins and they are found in pumpkin patches.)

He is also very into singing these days.  He sings the Umizoomi theme song and the alphabet song the most but he's started trying to sing parts of songs on the radio when we drive home from school, too.  In fact, he used to let me get away with listening to lots of NPR.  Now, he requests that I change it to music.

Pumpkin Patch Festival

Jake told us there was a little pumpkin patch festival at the
hospital this weekend and we should check it out.  So, having
no other plans, we decided to head over.

He seemed fascinated by the different pumpkin varieties to
be seen here.

He picked out this little white one.

We had a little picnic lunch.

They had some of Cal's favorite stuff to see, too.

Waiting patiently. . .

He looks way to old to me here.

Andy was really excited about this.

Of course, Cal managed to find this.
It's blurry because he was running round and
round this pillar.  Then, he would stop and
"read" the sign to me.

Popcorn managed to stop him in his tracks.

Calvin thought this was an excellent spot for his pumpkin.
