Slacker

We got out the paints this week.  They were finger paints but Little Man
was having none of that.  He did NOT like having the paint on his hands.
Once we handed him a brush, though, he was ready to go!

Thanks to some unusually good weather, we were
able to take a last-minute trip to the zoo on Saturday.
Cal had a great time and said the names of most of the animals.
We got to see the baby elephant out in the open and
the giraffes were really close to the fence.

Here we are headed over to see the rhinos.  Cal kept calling them
pigs for some reason.

Daddy/son bonding moment with the prairie dogs

Stopped for a quick snack

Checking out the monkeys monkeyin' around

Cal was having a great time right up against the glass
checking out the tiger.  Right up until the moment after this
picture was taken, when the tiger got up and stalked around
back and forth right by the glass.  He wanted to stay
pretty close to Andy after that.
Just wanted to not a couple of things so I don't forget.  First,  a couple of days ago, Cal figured out that he can get out of his bed and play in his room.  He still can't open his door yet.  Fingers crossed that it takes him a while to figure that one out.  : )

Also, lately he's been singing to himself.  So far, we aren't hearing any recognizable tunes or words.  He is doing this most often in the back seat when we are driving somewhere but he does it occasionally when he's playing on his own.

He thinks anything with the texture and shape of cake to be cake.  This week, I made some pumpkin muffins for breakfast.  He's been going crazy saying "cake" and wanting to eat a muffin at every opportunity.  He pulled the whole container down from the counter and brought it to me yesterday.

Finally, he's really shocking us lately with all the words he knows and has been putting together lots of simple sentences.  He says things like "The bus go away" and "Where did Mommy go?"  He can recognize and name lots of objects, animals, and body parts.  We're very excited to hear all of the new language he's learning.
