I haven't posted any Calisms in a while so I thought now would be a good time.
First, a great conversation between Cal and I:
Mommy: I am awesomesauce!
Calvin: I am applesauce, too!
Now, for other cute things he is saying lately:
When singing the ABC song, he now finishes it with "Now I lay me down to sleep. I pray the Lord my soul to keep. Amen!"
He is singing a lot lately. Jingle Bells continues to be a favorite even though it is now February. He doesn't quite have all the words so instead of "Oh what fun it is to ride", he sings "Wa na na na na to ride." He is an enthusiastic, if not accurate, singer. Just like Mommy!
Every once in a while, we will address him by a teasing name by saying something like, "Good luck, Chuck!" He will respond with, "I am not Chuck. I am Calvin."
Along those same lines, I was singing to him the other day and replaced the name in the song with Calvin. So, I sang, "Calvin over the ocean, Calvin over the sea, Calvin caught a big fish, can't catch me!" He made sure to inform me that it was, in fact, Charlie in the song, not Calvin.
I've got more but these are the ones that come to mind right now.

Christmas
Well, as you can see, we have been busy, busy bees since my last post. We managed to take in Christmas at the zoo again this year. It was cold and quite packed but the lights were pretty as usual.
Christmas break this year was my favorite timeline. We worked until just a few days before Christmas (the 21st) then after the holiday we had a nice, long stretch of time to just relax and have fun. We played in the snow that fell post-Christmas - making snowmen, sledding, throwing snowballs, and making snow ice cream were all on the agenda.
We hit the museum during break, though we were there at the beginning of the month, too. The big slide was still up so Cal got to ride it again, so he was pretty happy with that.
Of course, we also just did a lot of playing - making things with playdough, putting together all kinds of puzzles, and playing the many new games Cal got for Christmas.
Christmas itself was a lot of fun, of course. Cal got a ride-on police car. He seemed a bit intimidated by it at first but he warmed up eventually. We got it out briefly on Christmas despite the cold. Recently, we had an unusually warm day and were able to get it out for a longer time period. Cal is getting the hang of it but we're looking forward to more time with it, warm weather or not. The present he showed the most excitement about that morning, oddly enough, was a lunch box. It was a Cars lunch box that I got free when I bought his Umizoomi backpack. I just threw it in the closet, thinking I could bring it out for Christmas. Glad it was a big hit. He also really liked his easel from Grams and Papaw and continues to play with that a lot. Of course, the new train pieces from Grandma and Grandpa Fox were also well-loved and immediately incorporated in to his train fun. All in all, it was a wonderful holiday!
